Arthur Morris, who recently passed away, had a memorial service organised for him at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and Australia‘s newly-retired Test captain Michael Clarke was among attendance for the service. Clarke termed it as the “least he could do” to honour greats of the past, who have paved the way for brighter futures for the present generation of Australian cricketers. “We are absolutely blessed these days as current Australian cricketers, or recently retired,” he said. “For the modern game we’re so lucky and it’s because of what these great players did before us. You look at the facilities we have, the way we travel, the hotels we stay at — the least I can do is be here to support,” Clarke further added as he was quoted by heraldsun.com.au. He went on to speak about life following international retirement and said that his immediate focus was to spend time with family and to pay attention to his cricket academy. “It’s nice to be home and just spend some time away from cricket,” he said. “The next couple of weeks for me it’s really important to focus on my cricket academy, at the end of September we’ve got a week camp so I’d like to spend as much time with those boys and girls as possible,” Clarke concluded.
