Waqar Younis likely to become PCB's next Chief Cricket Officer

Having joined the PCB as an advisor to the chairman of cricket affairs, that also just for temporary time, great fast-bowler Waqar Younis is now likely set to become the new Chief Cricket Office (CCO) of PCB.

A source who is aware of these developments has said that the former captain had joined the board in a paid position and not in an advisory position.

"Presently, he has been given the title of advisor to the chairman on cricket affairs. But, a new position similar to the one that Rob Key has in the English cricket board is being created for him and would be approved by the Board of Governors," the source said.

The source further added that once Waqar starts on his new position, he would also be the part of the national selection committee and will be involved in issues linked to central contracts.

The source said that Waqar agreed to join as an advisor but he first wanted to get used to his new role.

He recently worked with various departments and learnt about al the cricket-related matters, be it domestic or international, strategies and preparations for the coming international games and tests etc.
