Five of Pakistan’s cricketers were recently awarded Grade ‘A’ contracts with revised salaries. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now gone one step higher by stating that their players will get a financial bonus if they manage to beat the World’s Number 1 Test side, Australia. The two teams will clash in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in September.
Earlier, the PCB announced performance-based pay structure in attempt to lift the team’s morale after regular changes in management and coaching staff over the past few months. There has been nothing great to write home about the performances of the team either, reports cricket.com.au.
In the revised structure of player fees, veteran batsman Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal have been demoted to Grade ‘B’. The top earners list include all-rounder Shahid Afridi and spin wizard Saeed Ajmal.
It has been two decades since Pakistan last won a Test series against Australia. The men from down-under have not toured Pakistan since 1998, which saw skipper Mark Taylor score his mammoth triple-hundred in Peshawar.
