Paul Stirling is a hugely talented player, says Eoin Morgan

The Kerala Kings won the T10 cricket league by defeating the Punjabi legends at Sharjah. The legends posted a total of 120 in 10 overs batting first. Kings won the match by eight wickets chasing down 120 in eight overs.

After losing a wicket off the first ball of the innings captain Eoin Morgan and Paul Stirling added 113 for the second wicket and secured a win for Kings. Stirling remained unbeaten on 52 and scored with a strike rate of 226.

Stirling scored a total of 118 runs in his five innings of T10 tournament with an impressive average of 90.50. Fellow Ireland-born Morgan scored 63 off 21 and later appreciated Stirling’s effort.

“I’ve played a lot with Paul, more so at Middlesex than anywhere else, and I have watched him come through,” Morgan said. “He is a hugely talented player, and I am really pleased for him that he has performed on a stage like this that is broadcast all around the world.”

When Stirling was asked about Morgan he admitted that he used to idolise Morgan and wanted to emulate him. He also praised his captaincy skills.

“I watched Eoin bat a lot when I was growing up, and he was always kind of an idol of mine and I wanted to emulate him, and go over and play for Middlesex,” Stirling said.

“For the last number of years it has been great to bat with him, and we seem to put on a few good partnerships together, especially in the recent years, so it was nice to get another one of those today.”

“It is good fun. He is a nice, relaxed captain. There aren’t too many team meetings, not too many warm-ups. It is all individual – if you want to do it, you do it, and if you don’t, you don’t have to. “It creates that relaxed environment that allows players to go out and perform at their best,” he added.

Stirling had scored a century against Afghanistan on the same ground four days prior to the start of the T10 tournament
