Pawan Negi to go through trials in Delhi University after submitting incorrect documents

The Delhi University is undergoing its admission season ahead, while 10 players to have represented India at international level in sports have been given direct admission by the university. The sports quota for students to have represented India at international level is 5%, i.e. “Olympic/World Championship/World Cup/Commonwealth games/Asian Games/Asian Championships/South Asian Games/Paralympic games”, according to the DU Sports Council’s guidelines. Although around 13,000 students apply via this quota, they need to undergo heavy selection procedure. Meanwhile, Indian cricket Pawan Negi, who has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was denied direct admission for the same following the submission of incorrect documents.
“He uploaded a certificate that says he participated in the Vijay Hazare trophy, which is a national level tournament. We are bound by guidelines and particular about document requirements. So he will have to participate in the trials,” the director of DU sports Council, Anil Kumar Kalkal explained.

Among the students to have got direct admissions are parathlete Rinku, and shooters Asees Chhina, Diwakar Yadav, Fateh Singh Dhillon, and Simran Preet Kaur. Also double trap shooter Bhowneesh Mendiratta and shotgun shooter Manavaditya Singh Rathore were among the ones to be directly admitted, while trap shooter Lakshay and Visdhi Jain too were among the ones, as reported by ZEE News.
