THE STAR cricketers Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan are probably going to get a heavy increase in salary as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reflected on rolling out significant improvements in the central contracts of the national players, sources uncovered late Friday night.

The governing body of Pakistan Cricket has not decided to end the red and white ball classification in the contracts but in addition chose to lessen the number of players, which was 33 last year in the central contracts to 25 or 26.

The new contracts will be divided into four different categories - A, B, C, and D, to the players. The players are expected to receive a historic pay raise of about 50% in their match fees in the new contracts.

Senior players like Babar, Rizwan, and Shaheen are included in category A and are the top earners as they will receive a salary of a whopping Rs 4.5 million a month as retainers and this is almost four times that of their last year's offer.

The players in Category B will earn around Rs3 million a month. Meanwhile, the players in Category C and D will be paid around Rs 0.75 to 1.5 million.
