PRITHVI Shaw shattered records on his way to a magnificent knock of 244 in 153 balls for Northamptonshire against Somerset in the Royal One Day Cup. Shaw gave a glimpse of his potential and played one of the best innings in List A cricket. Shaw became only the second Indian after Rohit Sharma and the fourth overall to hit multiple double centuries in List A cricket.
Shaw was praised by the cricket fraternity for his blazing innings but a few trolled him for his weight gain and receding hairline as his celebration pic surfaced on the internet. Author and Entrepreneur Ankur Warikoo was one of the few trollers who mocked Shaw for his weight gain.
Commenting on Shaw’s picture, Warikoo wrote, “Bet his mom thinks he has lost weight.”
This is 6 minutes of pure batting heaven from Prithvi Shaw.

The fans came to Shaw’s rescue and slammed Ankur for his insensitive tweet, also informing that Shaw lost his mother at a very early age. Ankur, however, clarified that the tweet was an attempt to invoke his mother’s reaction to his fitness when he was 20. Ankur also tagged Shaw and apologized for his remarks.
“I realize my mistake after people’s responses. This pic is Prithvi Shaw’s who lost his mother at the age of 4. Which makes my post extremely insensitive and not something I am proud of. In an attempt to invoke my mom’s natural reaction to my fitness levels in my 20s, I made a horrible mistake,” Warikoo tweeted.

Prithvi Shaw burst onto the scene with a lot of promise but he failed to turn potential into performance and lost his place in the Indian team after a string of low scores. Shaw last played for India in July 2021. In IPL 2023, he could only muster 106 runs in eight innings for Delhi Capitals after which he was dropped from the team. Shaw has fallen behind the pack in terms of India call-up but performances like these will help him get back into the reckoning.
