Ross Taylor accepts apology from New Zealand Cricket

After an ugly turn of events in the captaincy fiasco in New Zealand cricket, the board earlier went out and apologized to Ross Taylor for the way the issue was handled.

After an ugly turn of events in the captaincy fiasco in New Zealand cricket, the board earlier went out and apologized to Ross Taylor for the way the issue was handled. Following that , Ross Taylor has immedietely come out and accepted the apology and stated his urge to return to action for the Kiwis.

Taylor, New Zealand’s top test batsman, acknowledged the apology in a post on his Twitter account, as he wrote: “I appreciate the apology from NZC. Keen to put it behind me and looking forward to getting back with the team soon,” as reported by Skysports.com

This came after the board had issued an apology to the Kiwi batsman who led his side to a Test victory in the second Test against Sri Lanka at Galle. “The board has reviewed all aspects of the captaincy issue and wishes to publicly place on record its apologies to Ross Taylor and his family for the manner in which events have unfolded,” NZC chairman Chris Moller said.

Moller added, ” There are no hanging offences in all of this. Yes, the ball’s been dropped, absolutely. Could we have done things better? Absolutely. Are we going to learn from those mistakes, well we hope so.”

Taylor was earlier stripped off the one-day and Twenty20 captaincy on the recommendation of Mike Hesson and there was confusion regarding his future as the Test captain. Taylor went on to decline the offer to continue as Test captain and even opted out of the tour to South Africa with Brendon McCullum being named the new captain.
