Sardar Patel Stadium to undergo make over in MCG design

Sardar Patel Stadium at Motera is all set to undergo renovation with the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) keeping in mind. The new design will be able to house close to 1,00,000 spectators for which construction plans and estimates were placed and approved. The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) Vice-President Parimal Nathwani, and joint secretary Jay Shah, son of Amit Shah suggested that the demolishing work which begun on Thursday is expected to be completed inside four months. According to Indian Express, when asked what the estimated cost of the new stadium was, GCA Secretary Rajesh Patel said, “The cost of building a new stadium will be known after the design is finalised.” The construction of the new stadium is expected to take two years starting from the day of the groundbreaking ceremony.

“In the new stadium will have the number of AC boxes, hospitality areas and parking facilities will be increased,” Shah said. The GCA issued an official statement on Friday thereby making an announcement about the project saying the demolition work will end in four months. “The stadium, at present does not seem enough taking into consideration the huge rush of local cricket lovers during local and international matches,” it added.
