Scotland might have had bad start to their tour of Oman, losing their first match of the Oman Quadrangular T20I Series to Netherlands, but on Wednesday the Scottish team had a day to remember bundling out Oman – in the first match of a three-match bilateral series – for a record total of 24 runs at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1).

Oman’s total is now the fourth-lowest score by a men’s team in List A cricket. The lowest remains 18 by West Indies under-19 team against Barbados in 2007, followed by 19 by Sri Lankan team Saracens against Colts in 2012. At third in this undesirable list are Middlesex, who were bundled out for 23 against Yorkshire at Leeds way back in 1974.

Oman had failed to notch up a single win in the quadrangular series, but had managed to post 100 plus runs in each of the three matches, including one against Scotland. But on Wednesday, their batting imploded with only Khawar Ali managing to register a double-figure score of 15.

Five batsmen were dismissed for a duck apart from 0* by Sandeep Goud. For Scotland, pacer Alasdair Evans picked 2/10 while Ruaidhri Smith and Adrian Neill four wickets each.

While Evans gave away ten runs in his five overs, Neil, in his 4.1 overs, gave away seven runs. smith proved to be the most economical giving away seven runs in his eight overs to end with an economy of 0.87 runs per over.

In reply, Scotland romped home in 3.2 overs with openers Matthew Cross making an unbeaten 10 while skipper Kyle Coetzer made 16*, to hand their team a 10-wicket win.

The lowest score in a ODI international remains 35 all out by Zimbabwe against Sri Lanka at Harare in 2004.
