Shane Watson pulls out of PSL 2016 due to injury; heads home for assessment ahead of ICC World T20 2016

Australia all-rounder Shane Watson has pulled out of the reminder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to an abdominal injury. this injury will be a major hindrance in his preparation for the ICC World T20 2016, which kicks off in a month’s time. He will fly back to Australia and have the doctors from Cricket Australia (CA) assess the extent of his injury. Watson is said to have suffered this injury while playing for his franchise Islamabad United in their seven-wicket loss against Peshawar Zalmi at Sharjah on Friday. Shane Watson on his way out, left a message for all the fans, thanking them for all the support throughout the tournament, according to cricket.com.au. He said, “I’ve unfortunately made this video because I injured myself last night bowling, so disappointingly I’m going to have to head home back to Australia to get assessed with the medical people at Cricket Australia to try and get right for the Twenty20 World Cup,” Watson said. “Thanks very much to my franchise, Islamabad, I’ve had a hell of a lot of fun getting to know all the local players and playing in the PSL, which is a great tournament.” READ: Shane Watson toughest to bowl at: Hardik Pandya

Watson played six matches in the tournament and scored 194 runs at 32.33 with a highest score of 79. He was Islamabad’s leading run-scorer in the tournament. Watson recently scored his maiden T20 International (T20I) century in the third match of the series against India, in which he was also the captain, replacing Aaron Finch. After an impressive show in the Big Bash League (BBL) he was included in the Australian squad for the T20I series against India. He now finds himself in the Australian squad ICC World T20 2016 as well.
