Australia middle order batsman Shaun Marsh is hopeful that he will be included in the squad for the ICC World T20, which begins on September 18 in Sri Lanka.

After a disastrous Test series against India wherein he scored mere 17 runs in four Test matches at an average of 2.86, Marsh was dropped not only from the Test side, but also one-day and Twenty20 sides as well.

“I haven’t had any indication of what [the selectors] are going to do. It would be nice if I was in but if not I’ve just got to have a good start with the WA boys this year,” Marsh was quoted as saying by news.com.au

The talented left-handed batsman is not reading too much into his non-selection for both – Australia’s training camp in Darwin and Australia A’s tour of England.

Marsh had recently returned home after a T20 stint in England.

Marsh’s career has been on a downfall after he became the only 19th Australian cricketer to score a century on Test debut, which saw him replacing Ricky Ponting at the No 3 spot in Test batting line-up.

Marsh acknowledges he has a fight in his hands. “I’ve got to earn the right to play for Australia again,” he said.

The 29-year-old cricketer informed that he is working hard in the nets with Western Australia batting coach Bob Meuleman.

“I had a disappointing summer last year and you just can’t expect to be picked on the back of that. I’ve just got to get back to enjoying my cricket and scoring runs and I know if I do that I’ll give myself the best chance of getting back into the team,” he said.
