Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly said that it’s a welcome sign that football is finally getting attention in the country, thanks to the Indian Super League that is getting underway on Sunday.

“With Indian Premier League (IPL), I’ve experienced how all the madness surrounding me and the players and on the tournament. Now, as an organiser, it feels great to see the same sort of attention on football and our players,” the Atletico de Kolkata co-owner said.

Impressed with the way the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan in Saltlake has been decked up for the opening ceremony, Ganguly said: “I’ve been to the ground many a times before but never ever I thought that the stadium would look like this. It really feels great.”
