Sri Lanka scored 305-5 against England in the 4th One Day International (ODI) at Kennington Oval in London. The match was reduced to 42 overs per-side after rain interrupted the proceedings. Angelo Mathews and Dasun Shanaka finished the Lankan innings and the revised target for England would be 308 runs according to the DL method. The Sri Lankans were off to a bad start as Kusal Perera was run-out in the 2nd over, after his partner tried to sneak in a single and Jonny Bairstow’s throw hit the wicket. Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka then put on a big partnership. It was at the 18.1 over mark when rain played spoilsport and covers came on. Mendis looked in fine touch as he lofted a few shots over the in-field earlier on in the innings. He along with Gunathilaka, who also played cautiously to make a fifty and help Sri Lanka’s cause carried on till 127-1 when the drizzle started and got heavier. Mendis was out soon after the rain break, caught by Plunkett as Adil Rashid claimed the wicket. Soon, Gunathilaka became Rashid’s next victim. Chandimal after yet another brilliant knock of 63 off 51 for his side was bowled by Willey. Seekkuge Prasanna was the next man who was again done-in by Willey.

Earlier, England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to field first. England brought back Moeen Ali into the team after he was left out for Chris Jordan in the third ODI at Bristol. The series is currently in favor of the hosts. The first match at Trent Bridge was a tie. The second ODI at Edgbaston was an easy win for England as openers Alex Hales and Jason Roy notched up hundreds and took them to a 10-wicket win. The third ODI was abandoned due to rain.

Brief Scores: Sri Lanka 305 for 5 (Kusal Mendis 77, Angelo Mathews 67; Adil Rashid 2 for 57 , David Willey 2 for 58) vs England
