Sri Lankan women registered their first victory in the limited overs series against India after beating the hosts by three wickets in the first Twenty20 International (T20I).
Put into bat, Indian eves scored 147 for three in 20 overs with in-form skipper Mithali Raj top-scoring with 67 off 47 balls with nine fours and two sixes. Harmanpreet Kaur (40) also made useful contribution.
In reply, Sri Lanka scored 148 for seven in 19.5 overs with skipper Shashikala Siriwardene scoring 52 off 39 balls.
Chamari Polgumpala hit a quickfire 19 off 16 balls as the island women won the match with a ball to spare.
Off-spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad making her debut was the most successful bowler grabbing three for 24 off four overs.
Veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami was hammered for 35 runs in four overs. The final over was given to all-rounder Amita Sharma who gave away seven runs with the winning hit coming off the penultimate delivery.
