In an attempt to honour late Australian batsman Phillip Hughes, the designers of popular video game Stick Cricket have removed the ‘ head blow’ animation from the game in the latest update. Earlier, the popular video game had showed a player collapsing unconsciously on his stumps while missing a bouncer and was bowled out.

Following the tragic death of Hughes, who passed away after succumbing to injuries he endured from a bouncer at the SCG, the designers of the game held a meeting to try to change the game. Colin Rowe, creative director of Stick Sports said that it was sobering then and no longer funny, so they had a team meeting the day Hughes died and put plans to change the game with the very next update, News.com.au reported.

Now, with the latest update in the game, when a batsman misses a bouncer, it sails harmlessly over his head. However, Rowe further said that the bouncer had not yet been removed from all Stick Cricket mobile apps, adding that it was only from the Stick Cricket Premier League (SPL) version at this stage, the report added.
