Tea Report: India A reach 188/3 against Australia A

Manish Pandey and Karun Nair were at the crease, when the Umpires called for Tea on Day One.

India A in their first Test against Australia A reached 188 for 3 at Tea on Day One. Manish Pandey and Karun Nair were at the crease, when the Umpires called for Tea. Pandey was batting at 77 whereas Nair was on 8. Having got off to a slow start India A lost 3 wickets in the second session of play. Akhil Herwadkar was the first one to go as he was caught by Peter Handscomb, off the bowling of Daniel Worall. He was out for 34. Faiz Fazal was the next man to go as he was bowled by David Moody. Shreyas Iyer too despite getting a start could not carry on for long. He was caught and bowled by Mitchell Swepson for 19. Earlier, India A captain Naman Ojha won the toss and elected to bat first. The wicket, it looks like contains a bit of grass. Fazal and Herwadkar were off to a cautious start but then the Australia A bowlers fought back in the next session. They took wickets and kept it tight until Pandey started playing his strokes.

Meanwhile, India A,coached by Rahul Dravid and captained by Manish Pandey, managed to win the Quadrangular series prior to this series. They beat Australia A in the final by 57 runs. Performances from Yuzvendra Chahal and Mandeep Singh were instrumental in taking them to victory in the final. India A faced South Africa A and Cricket Australia’s National Performance Squad (NPS) among the other teams in the series.
