The pattern persisted further down the order, as the Capitals were able to score frequently enough to stifle the SuperGiants' comeback and sentence them to their first defeat of the competition.

With the aid of Will Jacks’ incredible 42-ball 101, which included nine sixes, Pretoria Capitals won the SA20 for the first time in 2024.
Opening batsman Jacks gave the Durban SuperGiants a scare as he went on a one-man show as the Capitals chose to bat. He first dominated Phil Salt (23) in a 75-run opening partnership, and he persisted in attacking even as the Capitals collapsed on the other end.
Before being out of the game in the 13th over, he had already scored 101 of the 151 runs the Capitals had produced throughout his outstanding performance. After then, even though the Capitals lost steam in the latter stages of the game, Colin Ingram’s 43-point cameo helped them take the lead. Even though Reece Topley finished with three wickets, the Capitals staggered but managed to surpass 200 because of Jacks’ early momentum.
Even when the top order got off to fast starts in the pursuit, the previously undefeated SuperGiants were unable to maintain their attack for extended periods of time. In just 12 overs, the SuperGiants lost all four of their top players, including Matthew Breetzke, who top scored with 33. Jacks struck twice himself.
The pattern persisted further down the order, as the Capitals were able to score frequently enough to stifle the SuperGiants’ comeback and sentence them to their first defeat of the competition.
