Matt Prior had a brief career spanning seven years and he was one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen during his tenure. He enjoyed a lot of success with the England side that scaled to the No. 1 ranking under the leadership of Andrew Strauss.

Prior has played with and against some of the greats of the game and when Lord’s Cricket Ground asked him to pick his All-Time XI, he picked up an interesting side. He named his long-time teammate and current England Test skipper Alastair Cook to open with Hashim Amla. The middle-order of his team consists of heavyweights like Ricky Ponting, AB de Villiers and Steve Waugh, who also captains the side. Then comes the surprise. Sachin Tendulkar is at No. 6 and if that is not enough, you have Kumar Sangakkara at No. 7. There definitely is a scope to get these stalwarts in the top 3 but that is how Prior wants it. Tendulkar is the only player from India in this team. The bowling is dominated by his former English teammates. While he has chosen South African speed king Dale Steyn to partner the new ball with James Anderson, the first change bowler is Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann happens to be the only spinner.
