Back in his hey day Virender Sehwag was one of the most fearsome batsmen who could tear apart any opposition leaving bowlers to shreds. Throughout the Cricket All Stars series though his team repeatedly suffered defeat, Sehwag showed glimpses of the same tendency. In the final match at the Dodgers Stadium he was again in same sort of mood but with a twist. Sehwag was connected to the microphone and was singing a song by Aatif Aslam called ‘Tu Jaane Na’. Yet the interruption did not act as a hindrance to his concentration. In fact the very next ball he splayed to the backward square leg boundary for a six. Sehwag scored 27 runs in the match off 15 balls before falling prey to Courtney Walsh. His knock included three fours and two sixes. His opening partner and captain of side Sachin Tendulkar smashed 56 off just 27 balls. Despite the dominant start the openers gave the team, they failed to capitalise and seal a consolatory wicket.

Sachin’s Basters ultimately raked up 219 runs in the match but that yet fell inadequate against the Warne’s Warriors outfit who managed to chase down the target with one ball to spare making for a thrilling finish to an iconic series. In all Sehwag scored 98 runs in the three games at an average of 32.66 and an astonishing strike rate of 217.77.
