You can get a break from India matches, but can we cricket reporters get a break from Virender Sehwag? More than a year post his retirement, he continues to dazzle on Twitter — dealing in fours and sixes. Be it one-liners, tweets, or gyaans (advices), Sehwag has mastered it all. The former cricketer, on this occasion, shared a childhood photograph of himself and compared it with a similar picture of his son, Aaryavir. He tweeted an age-old quote: “Every Father should remember that one day his Son will follow his example instead of his advice.”
Post his retirement, Sehwag has been spending a lot of time with family. Sehwag is very close to his sons Aaryavir and Vedant. During his felicitation in December 2015, he famously remarked, “I have told my sons that if they score more than 319 in any form of cricket I will gift a Ferrari. It is a motivation for them.”
He, in fact, relaxed the conditions further and made it clear that it can be any form of cricket from club to school to international. Till December 2016, Sehwag was India’s only triple-centurion. He got to the mark twice (309 and 319) and came close against Sri Lanka (293) in the 2009-10 series. Karun Nair, in the final Test against England, became the only other Indian to slam a triple-ton.

Last month, Sehwag had tweeted a picture of his son’s sketch of MS Dhoni. The former Indian captain was seen playing the much-famed Nataraj shot.

Sehwag’s message through his latest tweet comes with a subtext. It is important for fathers to set right examples for their wards. Action is what matters more than advice.
