Come Sunday, and the fans could expect VVS Laxman soaking in football fervour at its ‘Mecca’ on the sidelines of Atletico de Kolkata versus Kerala Blasters fixture in the Indian Super League. Really impressed with the grand way of ISL kickoff here on October 12, Laxman said: “I watched the inauguration on TV. It was fantastic. I would love to watch the match especially when I’m in Kolkata.”
“Everyone in Kolkata are ardent followers of football and cricket. They are true sport lovers. I’m sure the atmosphere in the ground will be electrifying. I would like to take this opportunity.”
Sunday’s match is billed as a battle between two former Indian teammates and opening partners Sachin Tendulkar (Kerala) versus Sourav Ganguly (Kolkata) who are co-owners of their respective franchise.
Laxman did not say whom would he support Sunday but the Hyderabadi added:”I hope it goes down the wire and I would like to soak in the excitement.”
