Australia vice-captain Alex Blackwell has said that her team will continue showing the zeal and exuberance shown by them so far in the series. She added that the killer instinct that the team exhibited in T20s was very important and fans will see a similar approach adopted by her and the team in the final T20 as well. This is last match of the series; Australia already sealed the series in second T20 itself. Given Blackwell’s aggressive tone and a similar approach that the team has adopted on the field in Ashes 2015, the English women will find it difficult to win the third and final T20. 32-year old Alex Blackwell who celebrated her birthday today said in a conversation with cricket.com.au, “[England] are going to come out firing and we’re ready to step up to the challenge. We’ve got a very young group and what I think we can achieve is that we can dominate world cricket for many years to come. We’ve got a T20 to defend in India and that’ll be in our sights. We’ve wrapped up the Ashes and we want to win well [tonight], but that’s the next goal for us.” If Australia win the final T20 they will end the Ashes with stats of 12-4. They have already won the series and are leading 10-4. They won the first T20, won the three ODIs 2-1 and showed resilience by winning the second T20 after losing the first. Australian women have performed very well in ODIs and T20s in the past couple of years. Their performance in Tests has also been brilliant. They have won all the last three World T20 titles and defeated England in the final of the 2012 and 2014 editions. However Australia’s batting has not lived up to its expectations in the last two T20s of this series. They scored just 122 and 107 runs in the first and second T20 respectively.“We were really disappointed with our batting in the first half. We thought we were at least 40-50 short of what par score was.”
