Australia‘s bowling all-rounder and pace spearhead Ellyse Perry who helped Australia win Women’s Ashes 2015 and emerged as champion bowler in the series feels that her hard work and dedication has finally payed off. Perry took 16 wickets in the series and emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament. The tournament consisted of a Test, three ODIs and three T20s. Perry also chipped in with the bat esp. in the three ODIs. Perry scored 264 runs in seven matches at an average of 33. It would not be wrong to surmise that she was key to Australia’s victory against arch-rivals England. READ: Ellyse Perry talks about fast bowling
In a conversation with cricketaustralia.com.au she said, “I am probably especially pleased with the way I’ve bowled, because in the last couple of years I haven’t bowled that well. I worked hard in the off-season and did a lot of work with a strength trainer back in Canberra to make sure I was fit and strong enough to last this whole series. So from that point of view it’s really pleasing to be able to contribute and I probably bowled better than I have for the last couple of years. Looking at way England play, Katherine Brunt and Anya Shrubsole really set tone for their team. I think it’s a great asset for them and really we’ve got that with our fast bowlers too.” READ: Women’s Ashes 2015: Ellyse Perry believes “killer instinct” was key to Australia’s victory
