England's second success came via the debutant Kirstie Gordon, who bowled Alyssa Healy for 54. Australia captain Meg Lanning was dropped on 26 by Heather Knight and progressed to 57 before she was third out, bowled by Sophie Ecclestone. Perry and Haynes, who scored her second Test fifty soon before stumps, carried Australia to a dominant close. Ecclestone was later forced off the field for some time after she fell on her shoulder, and England were further depleted when their opener Tammy Beaumont was hit on the thumb and sent for an X-ray.
