Continuing his upward climb in the ICC Test Rankings, Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved a career-high 12th position in the latest update released on Wednesday, February 28. Jaiswal has now surpassed his opening partner Rohit Sharma, who currently occupies the 13th spot.
Jaiswal’s consistent performances throughout the Test series against England have led to this milestone. With an impressive tally of 655 runs after the initial four Tests, he has matched Virat Kohli’s record for the highest number of runs in a bilateral series against England in Test cricket, courtesy of his two double centuries.

Although Kohli remains the top-ranked Indian Test batsman, he slipped to the 9th position after opting out of the first two Tests and ultimately missing the entire series due to paternity leave following the birth of his son, Akaay, with Anushka Sharma on February 15.
Jaiswal’s emergence as a key player in the series as he made very crucial contributions for the national team. In the absence of senior batsmen like Kohli and KL Rahul, he admirably shouldered the responsibility, becoming only the third Indian to register double centuries in consecutive Test matches, following in the footsteps of Kohli and Vinod Kambli.
