Yuvraj Singh adds “little bit of magic” to cancer patient children

Yuvraj Singh, a cancer survivor, added a “little bit of magic” to the life of a few children who are battling with cancer. Nickelodeon hosted a special screening of their new show Rudra — Boom Chik Chik Boom for the children of Yuvraj’s YouWeCan Foundation on Wednesday. “Kids always need a little bit of magic and fun in their lives. It was indeed a delight to watch the kids enjoy themselves so much. Rudra truly felt magical,” Yuvraj said in a statement. “I’m sure just like today, Rudra will definitely succeed in adding magic to the life of children across the country.”

Yuvraj was named Player of the Tournament in the 2011 World Cup. He was already suffering from cancer when the tournament started, but that did not prevent him from playing a pivotal role in India’s clinching the title. Yuvraj scored 362 runs at 90.50 and took 15 wickets at 25.13. Shortly afterwards he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in his left lung, and had to undergo chemotherapy treatment at Cancer Research Institute of Boston.

Once fully cured, he played even for India, and is currently a part of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) franchise. Yuvraj has played 40 Tests, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is, and was a part of three major ICC tournament-winning sides — Under-19 World Cup (in 2000), World T20 (2007), and World Cup (2011).
