Rangana Herath registered the record of getting total 350 wickets in Tests when he dismissed Carl Mumba in the second and the final Test against Zimbabwe which is being played at the Harare Sports Club. Herath has now become the overall twenty-third player to get to this milestone which is being headed by fellow countryman Muttiah Muralitharan. In this criteria, Herath is the second quickest to take 350 wickets in just 75 matches and has Australian legend Dennis Lillee. When it comes to spinners getting 350 wickets, he is sixth in the list below Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and Daniel Vettori which also makes Herath the second left-arm spinner to take 350 wickets in Tests followed by Vettori. So far Herath has taken 7 wickets in the second innings against Zimbabwe which holds another record against his name of getting most 12 wickets in a match. Herath has now taken 12 wickets in a match 5 times and this list is again headed by Muralitharan who has done this 6 times and has Sydney Barnes, Fazal Mahmood and Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who have done it 4 times till now.

He also became the fourth bowler to take 8 or more wickets in an innings of a Test against Zimbabwe after Muralitharan, Taijul Islam and Alan Donald.

Herath scalped total 8 wickets in the second innings against Zimbabwe and 5 in the first wickets taking his total tally to 13 wickets in the second Test match and had taken total 5 wickets in the first Test.

Herath has also won the first ever Test series as the captain of the Sri Lankan side as they defeated Zimbabwe in the first Test by 225 runs and then in the second Test by 257 runs giving a complete whitewash to the hosts Zimbabwe.
