Daniel Munoz of Getty Images captures an emotional moment at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) as Australia’s opener David Warner kisses the ground after reaching 63 on Tuesday, to pay his respects to deceased Australian cricketer Phil Hughes.

Hughes was batting on 63 at the same ground, when he was felled by a bouncer in a Sheffield Shield match in November last year. He succumbed to the injuries two days later. Warner was among few of the players who was present at SCG when the tragic incident took place.

The cricket world mourned the death of Hughes and it has been a difficult time for Australian players ever since Hughes’ demise and the India-Australia final Test is the first international match being played at the venue since the tragic incident. Earlier, the SCG Trust installed a commemorative plaque outside Australia’s dressing room.
