Dennis Lillee, born on July 18, 1949, played his final match for ACB President’s XI against touring Pakistan at Lilac Hill on October 26, 1999. The former Australian speedster has spent his post-retirement training young bowlers learn the art of pace bowling. He trained Brett Lee and Shaun Tait and was associated with India’s MRF Pace Foundation since 1987 till Glenn McGrath took over the role. In 1999-2000, Pakistan toured Australia to three Tests and tri-series against Australia and India. The first match Pakistan played was against Australian Cricket Board Chairman’s XI at Perth’s Lilac Hill. Lillee and his son Adam featured in the ACB Chairman’s XI.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat in the 50 overs match. Wajahatullah Wasti and Ghulam Ali opened the batting for Pakistan. Lillee opened the bowling for ACB Chairman. In the second over of the match, son Adam removed Wasti as wicketkeeper Ryan Campbell took the catch behind stumps. Ijaz Ahmed was the next batsman in. Somewhere in the fourth over, Lillee was bowling and Ghulam Ali was facing the 50-year-old pacer. Lillee bowled a perfect bouncer and Ali pulled it towards fine leg. Son Adam, who was standing at the fine leg, took an amazing one-handed catch to dismiss the Pakistani batsman.
